Contrasts at the University and New Opportunities
Marcello Malpighi practiced as a physician in the University Hospital. He strove to carry out anatomic dissections on all patients that died in the clinic, correlating symptoms into the gross pathological changes in the organs. In this time period, he had been appointed lecturer in theoretical medicine in the university. His intellectual honesty, along with his willingness to speak directly and honestly, forced him to publicly talk about the new notions: ailments weren't a modified balance of the humors, as conventional Galen medicine clarified, however they had been correlated to penis alterations. He subjected the new theories regarding the cardiovascular system, contrasting the thoughts by Galen, where the blood formed in the liver and has been absorbed at the periphery. In Galen notions, the lymph and lymph flow were linked by microscopic pores at the center septa. The people cooperation by Malpighi generated battle with another school members; conflicts which became physical strikes. The answer to these conflicts came suddenly a couple of months afterwards, when Ferdinand II, Grand Duke of Tuscany, summoned Malpighi into Pisa, in which he took the seat of theoretical medication. He chased a telescope using a ×30 magnification to observe the heavens. Malpighi collaborated with Giovanni Alfonso Borrelli, a gifted mathematician, and he had in his hands on a microscope, almost an untried instrument. He understood the significance of going from gross profit to microscopic monitoring, founding the cornerstone of contemporary ultrastructural pathology. Malpighi added microscopic monitoring to all of his research on people, animals, and plants. He started a brand new world of thoughts, resulting in modern structure.
In 1659, Malpighi needed to return to Bologna for family reasons. According to the traditional notions by Galen, the lungs have been strong structures filled with blood. Malpighi revealed, first on animals and afterwards in people, the lungs were constructions very similar to a honeycomb of bees, filled with atmosphere. He detected that the pulmonary alveoli, where arteries and veins attached via a system of capillaries, opening the possibility that those electrons, connected with bronchial terminations, were implicated in the oxygenation of blood. The venous blood returned to the center, thanks to those links.
