 Biography of Pierre Beaumarchais

He rose to prominence at the court of Louis XV, inventing new technologies and teaching songs. He was also an energetic radical who advocated on behalf of American liberty to the French authorities. As a writer, he's most famous for composing the three"Figaro" plays.


In age 12, Beaumarchais became an apprentice to his father, making watches, and in the process, devised an advancement for the pocket watch to make it even more practical; in the moment, the pocket watch has been an ornamental accessory instead of something which could correctly tell the time.


After marrying a priest called Madeleine-Catherine Aubertin, Beamarchais made a place at the court of Louis XV, instructing that the king's four brothers how to play the part. Following a visit to Madrid, Beaumarchais started writing plays, finally coming to the public eye using a drama, Eugenie, at 1767. The plays are observed historically as representing the cultural shift that happened during the French Revolution, also comprise thinly veiled critiques of their aristocracy and authorities.


Le Barbier de Seville expired in 1775, and Le Mariage de Figaro at 1781s, until it had been prohibited by Louis XVI. While Marie-Antoinette appreciated the drama, her husband thought it was offensive to the authorities, also Beaumarchais endeavored to update ituntil Louis raised the ban at 1784. 2 decades later, it had been turned into an opera in Vienna, composed by Mozart, Le Nozze di Figaro.


Beaumarchais played several other specialist roles during his lifetime. He delivered French munitions and supplies to the army, and became a secret agent for Louis XV.
